We can post!

Thanks to Sarah, we finally figured out how to post. More to follow soon!

Headed for COLD, need WARMTH ;)

Sorry it's taken me so long guys. I haven't been able to do anything from my phone (I also don't see a new post link) so I have to get on my computer to get to my list of blogs. Any clothing or shoes for cold weather is always helpful. We haven't been in the cold for a couple of years, so anything to help ease my transition would be great!

Some examples:
Sweaters or Fleeces -size medium
Puffy jackets - size medium
Warm pants - size, 4 or 6
Warm and/or waterproof boots - size 8 1/2

Can't wait to see everyone and spend some time in O town!

Ideas for John Paul

I'm sorry that the blog is not super-easy for JP, Dad and Mom.  Not sure why you don't have the "New Post" option at the top right of the screen, but no big deal - I'm happy to post a list for you as I'm doing for JP right now...

  • Winter Jacket/Coat (ski coat type, I have leather jackets and fleeces)
  •  iPhone 4S accessories (I’m getting the phone shortly, think.  I’m not sure exactly what I would  need/want…I have the basics that also work with the iPhone 3GS.  Maybe a bike bracket or other fitness type attachments??
  • A snow shovel (j/k, I don’t want to lug that back to MD)
  • This book: Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot
  • Red Wine
  • The latest version of Trivial Pursuit or a similar game (I’m not in to pop-culture, so not games heavy on that)
  • Other fun games (I really like games, but I don’t know how to grow beans)
  • Travel humidor / nice Cigar cutter
  • Casual multi-function watch with a leather band (to wear in the plane, I prefer analog but would like some sort of timer)
  • Soda-Stream machine

Sarah feels like Santa

But not because I've overwhelmed with Christmas cheer. It's because none of my clothes fit, and my stomach is sticking out of everything -- even clothes that were baggy just two months ago. Since I'm new to maternity clothes shopping, I'd rather rely on my stylish sister and sister in law to advise whoever has me this year on what maternity clothes to buy. I could use the most help with basics, stuff I could wear to work, work out clothes (yoga/running), and dresses (I prefer empire waist and am not a huge fan of wrap dresses).

Baby stuff is an option too, although we won't know the gender until after Christmas, so hold off on any gender specific purchases. Again, we are starting from scratch here so are totally open to whatever advice we can get.

Hope that is enough to go on!

We're online!

Hi all! Dan and I have internet at home, and it seems to be working really well. Someone told us that internet companies generally give their customers really good service for the first couple of weeks and then the service slowly worsens, since the companies oversubscribe. We'll see. For now, all is great.

All of our stuff is here and we are spending lots of time setting up our new house. We had a fun dinner/holiday party here on Friday evening with some friends from the U.S., British and Norwegian Embassies. I made eggnog from scratch yesterday for another party, and Dan and I had eggnog lattes for breakfast this morning. It almost feels like Christmas...

I attached two photos of our living room (notice our new ikea couches). If you look closely in the second you can see our "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree. The crazy black and white painting is from Haiti.

Terry and Dirks list

Hey everyone, I've got a few items that would be fun to get...have. Alicia is going to help me put the links to the catalogs that I found the items in:

Personalized stationary for Terry:

I'm not totally set on this but I like the different style and size of the envelopes. I'd like only my name (Terry Debbink) with no address. I like the tea cards or the hand bordered stationery from the same company.

Marble spoon rest for Terry:

I'd like to have two, one for DC and one for home.

There is also a item for Dirk (I picked it, he didn't but thought he'd like this for his desk in DC)
It's item HD2625 in the signals catalog...same as the spoon rest.

Thanks guys, hope this is helpful.

Thanks

Alicia, Thanks for the tip on "calling gifts".. Good call. Ah well, now Matthew knows what he's getting for his bday. I'll keep his Christmas present a surprise. ;)

I have a quick addition to John Paul's Christmas list. He asked me to put a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue on here for him. Since it's a rather expensive bottle of whiskey, he mentioned maybe it could be given by the group.

I'll see some of you very soon!

Love to all,
Grace

Alicia's wishes...

To answer Grace's question, it is not wrong to "call" gifts that you want to get people, just don't write it on the blog, cause then it won't be a surprise. Just email everyone else and let them know.

As for my wishes, here are some books I'm interested in -

The Omnivore's Delemma - A Natural History of Four Meals by Michael Pollan
How We Eat: Appetite, Culture, and the Psychology of Food by Leon Rappoport
Food Fight by Kelly Brownell

And, I would love a bag for my yoga mat, sweaters, and fun jewelry

Love you all,
Alicia

Here we are in Roma this past July. We'd like to go back again sometime...maybe it can be a family trip.

T & D July 2007
Hey guys, it's me the cook and cleaner person. I will think of things Dad and I need for Christmas. Thanks for your help getting on this blog site.

love you all, mom
Is it wrong to call a gift we want to get someone? Can I get Matthew the Lone Survivor? I'm reading it right now, and it's amazing (I promise I'll buy a new copy for him) and I have also met one of the widow's of the SEAL team in this book and her story is also amazing. I would love to get this book for anyone!!

So, on to thing for John Paul and myself.. John Paul can't think of anything right now, but I promise to get more out of him. As you all know, anything having to do with the Red Sox, pirates, Jimmy Buffett or flying will make him happy. ;)

I can list a few things... anything to keep me warm.. scarves, pashmina's, leggings, tights, extra long sleeve sweaters, extra long jogging pants. I'm adjusting to the East Coast still, what can I say?

If anyone wants to buy for the both of us, we can use anything great for grilling and cooking that we may not have thought to register for, like a cake slicer, dustbuster (not so much for the kitchen) and things like that. Sorry that's not too informative, but I'll be thinking and maybe send more specifics, if people want to buy for the both of us.

Love you all! Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

My first blog!

Hi, everyone...well, I figured it out! I haven't started thinking about Christmas, except my usual list...to see everyone and to be together.

We might use this site to let everyone know what our travel plans are, too? I'm flying home on Friday night, 21 Dec - arrive at 1945 on Midwest 406; going back to DC on Friday, 28 DEC, around 1100.

Go Navy Beat Army on 2 DEC!

The First List

Hello everybody. Well, one more class then I'm going home! But I have some time so I'll put a few ideas out there for birthday/christmas:

Stunt Kite (similar to Nate's) possibly this:
http://www.intothewind.com/shop/Stunt_Kites/Beginner/Prism_Quantum
or something similar.

DVD: The Bourne Ultimatum

Book: The Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell

GPS: Magellan Triton 1500
http://www.magellangps.com/products/product.asp?segID=425

Good Music
I like new music that i've never heard of before. cd's are still good.

Homarus americanus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/homarus_americanus

Other stuff, I like good books, DVDs, Music, anything from REI, nothing that says "Navy" on it (unless it's from LT Debbink and has something to do with his squadron/enterprise)

I may post again if I get more ideas, until then...

GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY

Welcome to our family Christmas list blog!

Hello Dad, Mom, Dan & Sarah, Grace & JP, Nate & Alicia, and Matthew,

This is our Christmas list blog. Please post your Christmas wishes with links when applicable. As of the creation of this blog, there are 46 days till Christmas. Mom is requesting that you don't only put specific things with links, but also general categories such as "sweaters," or "gardening tools," or "airplanes" to leaves some room for creativity and fun shopping.

Oh, and regarding the couples vs individual gift giving, feel free to do as you wish, so make lists for both or you or for each individual.
